Special Guest Mychael Black!

Hi everyone, and welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Christmas Blog Party! For the most recent list of posts and giveaways, please visit here.

Today we're in for a real treat--literally! Special guest Mychael Black is sharing a scrumptious recipe for gingerbread. Don't know about you, but my tummy is rumbling!

It's no secret that I love to cook--whether it's roasting, grilling, baking. One of my favorite things to bake (aside from my homemade artisan sourdough) is gingerbread. It's good for you--body, heart, and soul. Not to mention that it makes the entire house smell like the season should: ginger, cinnamon, baking. Yum!

I hope you enjoy the recipe below. It's the one I use for my own gingerbread. Enjoy!

Gingerbread

Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup light molasses
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup water

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350, and grease and lightly flour 8-inch square baking pan. Cream shortening and sugar until a bit fluffy. Add the egg and molasses and beat until blended. Sift together flour, salt, baking soda, ginger, and cinnamon. Boil water, and add it, alternating with flour mixture, to the creamed ingredients, mixing after each addition. Pour into floured, greased pan and bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes.

What do online gaming, Spongebob, cooking, writing, and an unnatural addiction to Mountain Dew all have in common?

Not a damn thing, which is what makes Mychael Black an interesting bird indeed.

Born in north Alabama, Mychael now resides on Marylands Eastern Shore. Having run the gamut of labels in regard to gender and sexuality, Mychael now shuns societys views on normality and embraces a poly-everything attitude. Call Mychael her or himit doesnt matter. Just keep reading the books.

I only do a lot of baking around the holidays and I love gingerbread. I'm gonna try this recipe. It looks fairly easy and these days I need easy recipes since I don't have a lot of time to do my baking.
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Thanks for the chance to win. <^_^>

I have to admit that while I love to eat baked goods, my attempts at making them have been pretty ugly. The gingerbread sounds delicious though. I just need to find someone else to make it. :)

I love baking especially around the holidays but I have to say, *hangs head in shame*, I don't like Gingerbread anything. No one in my family does. The recipe does sound kind of simple, so maybe I'll bake some for friends. Thanks.
